Define formal limits on scope adjustments within the agreement. Outline a set number of allowable adjustments within the original budget, or require written quotes and approvals for extras. This mutual framework ensures fairness for all parties. It prevents the team from being overworked and ensures the client isn’t surprised by unexpected costs.


Consistent check-ins form the backbone of successful agile contracts. Maintain ongoing conversations to recalibrate expectations and clarify next steps. Clients who are actively engaged and well-informed are far less prone to erratic demands.


Finally, celebrate when the team says no. It’s not about being rigid—it’s about protecting the project’s integrity. The goal is optimal value delivery — not feature saturation. Discipline often means removing, not adding, to achieve clarity and focus.
