In today’s episode, "The Sunnah Way to Travel", we learn one of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ’s beautiful teachings — Dua before Travel.


ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَلَّمَهُمْ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا اسْتَوَى عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ خَارِجًا إِلَى سَفَرٍ، كَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا ، وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ. وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبَّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Urdu Translation:
حضرت ابنِ عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے انہیں سکھایا کہ:
رسول اللہ ﷺ جب اپنے اونٹ پر سوار ہو کر سفر کے لیے نکلتے، تو تین بار تکبیر (اللہ اکبر) کہتے، پھر یہ دعا پڑھتے: پاک ہے وہ ذات جس نے اس ) سواری ) کو ہمارے لیے مسخر کر دیا ہے ، حالانکہ ہم اسے قابو نہ رکھ سکتے تھے ، بلاشبہ ہم اپنے رب کی طرف لوٹ کر جانے والے ہیں ۔

English Translation:
Ibn Umar taught them that whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mounted his
camel to set out on a journey, he would say ‘Allahu Akbar’ three times,
then he would recite: Hallowed is He Who subdued for us this (ride)
and we were not ourselves powerful enough to use It as a ride,
and we are going to return to our Lord.
